The former Military Administrator of Nigeria’s Ondo and Oyo States, Colonel Ahmed Usman (Rtd) has said the successful launch of NigeriaSat-2 and NigeriaSat-X as well replacement of NIG-COMSAT IR satellites has placed Nigeria among powerful countries in the world.

Usman, according to a statement yesterday by the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA)’s spokesman, Felix Ale, made the remark during a visit to the agency in Abuja.

The former military administrator said the successful launch of the satellites would boost the nation’s corporate image and help Nigeria stand tall amongst the powerful countries in the world.

He pointed out that he had followed with keen interest the issue of space race across the globe even during his service years in the military saying no one would believed that, Nigeria would achieve much within the relatively short period since the commencement of the space programme.

Director General of NASRDA, Dr. Seidu Mohammed described the visit of the former military administrator as heartwarming and challenging.
