AFRICANGLOBE – Thor Construction Inc. is the only Minnesota company on Black Enterprise‘s new list of America’s 100 largest Black-owned businesses.
Fridley-based Thor, owned by Richard Copeland and led by CEO Ravi Norman, is No. 37 on the publication’s industrial/services list, which is ranked by revenue. The list says Thor had $90 million in revenue in 2014.
The Business Journal last year ranked Thor Construction as the second largest ethnic-minority-owned company in Minnesota, based on 2013 revenue of $76.1 million.
Thor Construction does contracting work nationwide and is a partner on the construction of the new Minnesota Vikings stadium in downtown Minneapolis with project manager Mortenson Construction, based in Golden Valley.
With only only one black-owned business on the Black Enterprise list, Minnesota is tied with Arkansas, Colorado, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Mexico and the District of Columbia. At least 20 states didn’t make the list.
The states with the most black-owned businesses on the list are Michigan (21), Ohio (16), Texas (14) and Georgia (14).
