Exonerated After Being Murdered: Judge Tosses Out George Stinney’s Conviction

AFRICANGLOBE – Seventy years after South Carolina murdered a 14-year-old boy so small he sat on a phone book in the electric chair, a circuit court judge threw out his murder conviction. On Wednesday morning, Judge Carmen Mullins vacated the decision against George Stinney Jr., a Black teen who was falsely convicted of beating two young white girls to death in the small town of Alcolu in 1944.

U.S. And Cuba To Resume Diplomatic Relations

AFRICANGLOBE – The United States will restore full diplomatic relations with Cuba and open an embassy in Havana for the first time in more than a half-century, American officials said Wednesday.

Obama In Post-Black America

AFRICANGLOBE – In the latest fallout from the Sony hack, “Scandal” and “Grey’s Anatomy” Creator/Producer Shonda Rhimes has responded bluntly to a leaked email exchange between Sony Pictures Entertainment chief Amy Pascal and producer Scott Rudin. “Calling Sony comments”racially insensitive remarks” instead of “racist”? U can put a cherry on a pile of sh*t but it don’t make it a sundae,” the Scandal showrunner wrote on her Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.

Rev. Edward Pinkney Sentenced To Two-And-A-Half To Ten Years

AFRICANGLOBE – Berrien County Judge Sterling Schrock sentenced the leader of the Black Autonomy Network Community Organization, Rev. Edward Pinkney, to 30-120 months in prison based on five felony counts of forgery by an all-white jury.

Cleveland Police Union Demands Apology From Browns For Protest

AFRICANGLOBE – Before the Cleveland Browns took on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Andrew Hawkins came out wearing T-shirts that read, “Justice for Tamir Rice and John Crawford.” Soon after, the president of the Cleveland Police Union issued a statement, expressing that he feels the Cleveland Police Department is owed an apology for the T-shirts because of all that they do for the Browns.
