Facebook date lands woman in jail

Disastrous first dates are not unheard of, but this one takes the cake. When Leah Gibbs, 23, hooked up with a man she met on Facebook, the last thing she expected was that the rendezvous would land her in prison.

Gibbs had anticipated a quiet and romantic evening, getting to know her new online boyfriend, 21-year-old Adam Minton. However, she got more than she had bargained for.

Ms Gibbs disclosed, “It was a date from hell. I thought I’d be ending the night in Adam’s arms. Instead, he had landed in the long arms of the law and I was facing jail.”

Tricked into driving getaway car:- The date started with Milton asking her to drive him to the shopping district for a quick errand. Blissfully unaware of his devious plans, Gibbs obliged.

But there was more! A panic stricken Adam returned five minutes later and urged her to drive him home. Once in the car he screamed “Drive, drive, drive.”

Though she complied, Gibbs was perturbed by the sudden change in the persona of her date. She realized the evening was ruined and her date had gone awry.

The worst was yet to come. Just as Minton was trying to coax her into the house, the police swooped in and arrested the duo, accusing him of robbing a cashier at a betting shop in Rhondda, South Wales and Gibbs of being party to the crime.

The robbery:- Adam had worn a black bandana and robbed a bookmaker of £250 at knife point. Though he managed to flee with the loot, he was caught after the alert cashier informed the police of the car’s registration number.

Minton had reportedly carried out the robbery to clear a drug debt. He is currently facing four and half years of jail time for the crime committed. Gibbs spent a night in a cell but was subsequently released after Minton confessed he had acted alone. Gibbs stated, ‘I’m grateful he told the police I knew nothing of the robbery, but still bitter he involved me.’
