AFRICANGLOBE - Most of the EFF MPs removed from the National Assembly during President Jacob Zuma's eighth State of the Nation Address were beaten up, party leader Julius Malema said on Friday. “We were face down... we were assaulted up until we went into the main corridor of Parliament,” Malema said at a press conference in Cape Town.
AFRICANGLOBE - Nigeria's National Assembly said on Wednesday oil major Shell should pay $3.96 billion for a 2011 spill at its offshore Bonga oilfield in the latest assessment of damage to the environment. The non-binding decision comes after years of analysis by various Nigerian state agencies, which have proposed a range of fines as high as $11.5 billion.
AFRICANGLOBE - Earlier this month, police were called into the assembly after an opposition lawmaker called President Jacob Zuma a "thief." He had been protesting a parliamentary decision to clear the president of any blame for spending some 246 million rand worth of public funds to renovate his country estate.
AFRICANGLOBE - The pandemonium began shortly after 2pm and was reminiscent of the heckling Zuma faced on August 21 when the EFF shouted "pay back the money" at him in reference to Madonsela's finding that Jacob Zuma was liable to reimburse the state a portion of the R246 million spent on his mansion.

Hundreds of ANC grassroots mayors and councillors stand to lose their jobs. I smell a grassroots revolt in the offing and venture to predict that Zuma will be gone before those elections.
