Arsenal’s New Signings And Improved Team Chemistry Is Delivering Results
There were several new signings that took place this summer and a couple of notable departures, the sum of which seem to have put Arsenal FC in a much better position to be successful in this upcoming season. They have already got off to an excellent start in the Premier League and the Champions League with the team showing a much better work ethic and overall attitude plus they are performing much better defensively and look more balanced offensively as well. Already we can see the players having a much-improved ability to see out games and properly keep the team formation and shape.
If you are looking for News About Arsenal, the website GoonerNews.com has definitely got you covered. They cover all of the Arsenal News extensively from every angle. Since they signed the Spanish midfielder, Santi Cazorla, he has contributed nothing but positive attributes to the team. Cazorla has played for a number of Spanish teams including Real Oviedo, Villarreal CF (twice), Recreativo de Huelva and Malaga before being bought by Arsenal where the 27-year-old signed on a long-term contract, the exact price that the Gunners paid for him has not been disclosed as of yet. When playing for Malaga last year, Cazorla was able to score 9 times in a total of 38 league appearances. He was one of the star players on the team leading them to fourth place in La Liga and qualification to the Champions League for the first time. Cazorla is a very solid player he has made 48 appearances for Spain. In fact, he served on the country’s team when they won the UEFA European Championships of 2008 and 2012, unfortunately missing the 2010 World Cup win in South Africa through injury. When discussing his recent signing with Arsenal, Cazorla stated to the media: “I’m so happy to be joining Arsenal, this is a club with great players, a fantastic stadium and huge support.”
Arsenal added two other players- Ligue 1 top scorer, striker Olivier Giroud from French champions Montpellier and the German forward, Lukas Podolski from FC Köln were also signed on long-term deals. Giroud is a strong aerial threat. who is excellent at holding up the ball and bringing teammates into the attack and Podolski is a versatile forward who can play anywhere upfront but is perhaps best suited to playing on the left. These new players are already helping to bring some interesting changes to the Arsenal team. They seem to have made the team a better-rounded unit who are no longer reliant on Robin Van Persie for goals and inspiration. Podolski has got off to a fast start with three goals already this season at the time of writing and while Giroud is yet to score, he has been instrumental in the improved team play by Arsenal and has worked unselfishly for the team, drawing an assist on Podolski’s Champions League goal against his old team Montpellier.
Arsene Wenger sold Robin Van Persie to Manchester United and sold Alex Song to Barcelona. Instead of weakening the team these sales seem to have helped Arsenal. Abou Diaby, back from injury, has seamlessly taken over from Song and with Jack Wilshere finally back in full training after a 14 month absence due to an assortment of “leg” injuries, Arsenal now have a comprehensive and diverse midfield. Many fans thought that the loss of Robin Van Persie would signal a shortage of goals and flair but this has not been the case as it seems to have brought the best out of the other Arsenal players as they are taking more responsibility and doing more with possession rather than just giving the ball to Van Persie and expecting him to score as they did last season.
Arsenal had many defensive injuries last season which effected their goals against statistics but this season with less injuries and players having adequate time to get used to each other, they are producing more clean sheets and are able to see out games for victories by one goal margins whereas last season they were conceding goals too easily and suffering from lapses in concentration which cost them games.
Exciting things are coming for Arsenal this season as their draw with reigning Premier League Champions Manchester City shows, so remember to regularly check the newly redesigned GoonerNews.com to find all the news about Arsenal FC, rumored new signings and upcoming games.
