We Will Teach The ANC How To Take Care Of The Poor - Malema

AFRICANGLOBE – The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) will build houses for the widows of the slain Marikana miners, party leader Julius Malema said on Saturday.

“We are going to deliver. We want to teach the ANC government how to take care of poor of the poor,” he said to the applause of the 12,000 strong crowd.

He said the EFF would also pay school fees and buy uniform for their children.

“We are a caring organisation,” he said.

He was speaking at the second year anniversary of the Marikana tragedy held in Wonderkop.

A total of 44 people were massacred in the strike-related unrest at Lonmin’s platinum mine in Rustenburg in August 2012.

Thirty-four people, mostly striking mineworkers, were shot dead in a clash with police, over 70 were wounded, and over 250 arrested on 16 August 2012.

Ten other people, including two policemen and two security officers were killed in the preceding week.

Malema accused the ANC-led government of killing defenceless mineworkers.

“They took away bread winners. We want a government that brings bread winners not that [takes] them away.”

He said the widows and families have an experience of living without bread winners.

“It is more painful for the families this year than the first year. It has kicked in now that their bread winners are no more,” he said.
