AFRICANGLOBE – Deon Nunlee, a 39-year old Detroit police officer, is being accused of raping a woman who called 911 to report an alleged assaulted by her boyfriend. The woman, who is 31-years old, told investigators that after the officers arrived at her home, she was taken to an upstairs bedroom by one while the other remained downstairs with her boyfriend.
The woman claims that she was then raped by Officer Nunlee in the bedroom by the officer. And DNA evidence connects Nunlee to the sexual assault.
Police Chief James Craig, commented, “This is the type of misconduct that should never happen. This does not reflect the work the Detroit Police Department does each and every day.”
Nunlee, 39, who has never been convicted for a crime, was arraigned last Friday on second-degree criminal sexual conduct, assault and misconduct charges. He reportedly has been with the police force for just 6 years, and is required to appear for a preliminary examination on April 17th.
Nunlee is actually one of three Detroit police officers currently facing charges:
Another officer, Johnny Ray Bridges, 47, has been charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, domestic violence and reckless discharge of a firearm in connection with the assault of a 31-year-old woman.
And yet another officer, Dana Bond, 41, is facing misdemeanor charges of high blood alcohol content, failure to stop at the scene of a personal injury accident and failure to stop at the scene of an accident with property damage. She is accused of driving while intoxicated and getting into an accident.
All three officers have been suspended without pay.
