In a video being called “odd” by conservative Internet provocateur Matt Drudge, the Obamas talk about their first movie, Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing.”
“He showed all the sides, he was hip, cutting-edge, cultural, sensitive,” says Michelle, before the president winks and says “take tips gentlemen.”
The video comes at a time when Senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett on Saturday told the National Association of Black Journalists that President Obama has “genuine love for the Black community.” The speech has been panned for being too heavily focused on the campaign.
“You know what? He is black,” Jarrett said. “He’s the black president. He doesn’t hide it. How can you hide being black?”
The video also comes as Obama has lost noticeable support among blacks, due his support of gay marriage.
