AFRICANGLOBE – New England Patriot quarterback Tom Brady and coach Bill Belichick may be all palsy walsy with President Trump, but tight end Martellus Bennett says he will skip the customary visit with the president that Superbowl champions usually make.
Bennett has been vocal in his opposition to Trump and Trumpism, and preached a message of inclusion and love, as anyone who has followed his twitter account can see. Some of his recent tweets include:
“America was built on inclusiveness not exclusiveness.”
“Be the change you wish to see in the world. If you want a world full of hate be hateful. If you want a world full of love be loving.”
Bennett was busy celebrating his win with his adorable daughter when reporters pressed him about his political views.
Asked whether his politics have separated him from some of his teammates, Bennett said:
“We all have our beliefs. The thing is, we accept people for who they are. And that’s the biggest thing about what this country is really about. I don’t really care what you believe. It’s not going to separate me from accepting you for who you are.”
The Patriots won a stunning come-from-behind 34-28 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
Maybe Bennett should be MVP.
