AFRICANGLOBE – Former neighborhood vigilante and accused murderer George Zimmerman said on his legal fund website that he plans to step up fundraising efforts while he awaits trial for allegedly murdering unarmed Florida teen Trayvon Martin.
George Zimmerman’s attorney, and former legal analyst Mark O’Mara, said Wednesday on Zimmerman’s legal defense fund site that his client plans to launch a new defense fund next month with a new manager.
According to the website, “these efforts will include an updated GZDefenseFund.com website, a disclosure of how funds have been spent, and regular updates regarding how future funds will be allocated. George Zimmerman will make a statement to his supporters, and he would like to send a NOTE OF THANKS to all donors who do not object to receiving one — we are, of course, maintaining the confidentiality of donors.”
It seem as is George Zimmerman is living pretty luxurious, Mark O’Mara said an existing fund has raised $140,000 since it was launched last May, but the amount is currently at its lowest level.
Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and claims he shot Trayvon Martin, 17, in self-defense, citing Florida’s “stand your ground” law.
A trial is set for June, but a “stand your ground” hearing could be held by April.
