Mitt Romney: What is the Mormon Religion Truly About?

My mother always taught me, she was an educator, that when it comes to politics, love, and religion do not take a person’s word. You should research to determine the truth.

So, that is what I decided to do when I was told by another person that Mormon’s believed that all African American’s were cursed due to being the descendants of Cain. Yes, I am African American. Here, is a quote from Brigham Young from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that clearly drives my point home.

Brigham Young second president and prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS)said:

You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable and low in their habits, wild and seemingly deprived of nearly all the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind. . . . Cain slew his brother. Cain might have been killed, and that would put a termination to that line of human beings.

This was not to be, and the Lord put a markupon him, which was the flat nose and black skin. Trace mankind down to after the flood, and then another cursed is pronounced upon the same race–that they should be the ‘servants of servants’ and they will be until that curse is removed; and the Abolitionists cannot help it, nor in the least alter that decree.

Young also said:

Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the White man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot. This will always be.

Hey, I did not say these discriminatory statements, Young did. What truly bothers me the most about this quote and other quotes from the prophets or presidents of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-day Saints is that they actually have taught this discriminatory nastiness for nearly “150 years” to those who are members of their church. Wow! Are you really serious?

Ask yourself, if you believe in equality of all people that is, is this really the man you want running the U.S.A.? What does this mean as it relates to his political viewpoints for a whole race of people, Blacks?

Although President Barack Obama may not be the “right” person to continue to be the president of the U.S., I can wholeheartedly say that it certainly is not Mitt Romney who should be elected the next President. Not with his discriminatory upbringing as a Mormon.

Please continue to ask yourself. Do you really want to elect Romney to be the next President of the U.S. when he has been raised in a religious environment that argues that all Blacks are cursed because they are the descendants of Cain?
