North Korea: 'Obama Monkey In Tropical Forest'
North Korea has compared Obama to a monkey and blamed the US for shutting down its internet

AFRICANGLOBE – U.S. President Barack Obama is “reckless in words and deeds like a monkey in a tropical forest,” according to an official statement by North Korea’s National Defence Commission (NDC).

The highly racial slur formulated by the totalitarian regime of “Supreme Leader” Kim Jong-un is the latest provocation between the US and East-Asian state following the controversial release of the Sony-produced comedy The Interview.

The feature-length spoof sparked outrage among the North Korean leadership due to its storyline of two American journalists going into the country to assassinate Kim.

The NDC accused the White House of shutting down the country’s entire internet following the recent hacking of Sony and threats made against its staff if the comedy was given a theatrical release.

A group calling itself Guardians of Freedom claimed responsibility for the hacking scandal and subsequent threats. The FBI has since stated that the hackers are linked to the North Korean regime.

Earlier last month Obama had criticised Sony executives for cancelling the film’s scheduled premiere and mainstream cinema showings – a decision Sony claimed it made because several of the major cinema chains said they were unwilling to screen the movie.

In a recent statement, the NDC condemned the US for allowing Sony to distribute the “dishonest and reactionary movie”.

It added its dissemination on the internet “[is] hurting the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK [North Korea] and [is] agitating terrorism”.

The NDC went on to accuse Obama of being “the chief culprit who forced the Sony Pictures Entertainment to indiscriminately distribute the movie”.

It added: “Obama always goes reckless in words and deeds like a monkey in a tropical forest.”

It is not the first time the secretive regime has called Obama a monkey.

Analysts claim the reaction to the comedy starring Seth Rogen and James Franco is born out of the regime’s deep-rooted of fear of losing power through dissent, generated by comedy and satire.
