AFRICANGLOBE – Wendy’s, the third largest fastfood restaurant chain in the world, is being heavily criticized for the way they administer their scholarship program.

Apparently the annual program, called Wendy’s High School Heisman, only gives scholarships to White students.

Featured on their scholarship web site (www.WendysHeisman.com), are the pictures of the all the scholarship winners for 2011 and 2012, and not one Asian American, Native American, Hispanic American or African American can be found.

Here are some more pictures that we pulled from their web site:

Founded in 1969, Wendy’s International is based in the Columbus, Ohio area, and has more than 6,500 franchise and company restaurants in the U.S. and 27 other countries. Their annual revenues are about $360 million.
The company claims to support diversity through the following statement on their web site:

Hiring the best person for each position gives us a competitive edge, and the diversity of our workforce is a reflection of today’s global community. The individuals who make up our restaurant teams and office staff come from all walks of life, including a variety of cultures, ethnic backgrounds and life experiences.

Yet, when we checked their company’s corporate web site (www.AboutWendys.com) to view pictures of their board of directors and their leadership team. Again, not one Asian American, Native American, Hispanic American or African American can be found.

Should Wendy’s be boycotted?
