The Black Agenda: Is The Congressional Black Caucus Still Relevant?

0
AFRICANGLOBE - Normally, one could assume it would be the Congressional Black Caucus whose gerrymandered districts encompass the most impoverished urban areas in the country that would most likely advocate a Black Agenda.  But it’s difficult to understand what the Caucus does anymore. They certainly don’t stand behind Black unity.

AFRICANGLOBE - President Obama gave his final speech to the Congressional Black Caucus gala on Saturday, in what turned out to be a condescending plea to the Black community to vote for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton so his legacy could be continued. Mr. Obama said he would consider it a “personal insult” if African-American voters didn’t turn out for Mrs. Clinton and that all the progress the country has made over the last eight years, under his reign, was on the line.

Obama The Fake Malcolm X – The Gantt Report

AFRICANGLOBE - President Barack Obama made quite a splash at a 2016 Congressional Black Caucus dinner. News reports say Obama gave his most fiery Presidential speech ever as he tried to fire up some political puppets before the upcoming fall elections. I say puppets because even if the President didn’t say a mumbling word, Black elected officials would probably vote for every Democrat anyway.

Cowardly Black Caucus Ignores Israeli Apartheid

AFRICANGLOBE - Nobody celebrates victories against racism and apartheid a generation or two back more often and more lavishly than the Congressional Black Caucus. It’s something they must do constantly not just because some of those victories made their careers possible, but because apart from their own careers, they haven’t accomplished much in the last 40 years.

Are Black Politicians Becoming Irrelevant?

AFRICANGLOBE - This past weekend, the Congressional Black Caucus hosted its annual weekend extravaganza that included expensive dinners and lavish partying. Yet, Black politicians in the present day are standing by as the GOP and its right-wing zealots run amok in cahoots with local and state police departments.

Don't pay attention to the fact that the very people that we want you to go out and support have been the very people that have hurt you most."

Black Numbers Are Up In Congress, But Power Is Down

5
AFRICANGLOBE - When Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech 50 years ago this week, just five African-Americans held seats in Congress. There are 44 today. But those numbers mask a hard reality: Even with an African-American in the White House, Blacks arguably have less clout in Congress than they did in 1963.
