Ethiopia Opens New Front Against Al-Shebab Terrorists

Witnesses in Somalia say columns of Ethiopian troops have crossed into the country and are marching toward key al-Shabab strongholds, apparently opening a new military front against the Islamist militant group. GE and Kenya Plan New Projects

Kenya will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on development with General Electric Company. This was agreed after the company's top executive led by its chairman and chief executive Jeffrey Immelt, and the President and CEO for Africa, Jay Freland were hosted by the vice president Kalonzo Musyoka at an inter-ministerial round table meeting in Nairobi yesterday.

East Africa to Adopt Single Currency By June 2012

The East African Community will move to a single currency by June next year, according to EAC Secretary General, Mr Richard Sezibera, making it the second regional bloc to adopt single currency after the European Union. The region, Mr Sezibera said, was halfway through the negotiation process, and that the High Level Task Force was doing all it can to accelerate the adoption of a monetary union.
