Forget The Lie That Africans Sold Other Africans Into Slavery

AFRICANGLOBE - Could Slavery have been the result of the barbaric invasion of Africa by the so-called missionary Europeans, or civilizing Europeans, in the same way that freedom-fighting-regime-change-terrorists in the Levant have forced so many into refugee status?

Prison Slaves Paid One Dollar To Fight California Wildfires

AFRICANGLOBE - There are 200 inmates from 16 different fire crews helping fight the dangerous Camp Fire, which is now the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in the state's history. As of Monday morning, the fire had burned more than 113,000 acres and was only 25 percent contained. There are also inmate "firefighters" helping to battle two blazes in southern California. Those inmate 'fightfighters' are so-called volunteers who earn $2 a day, and $1 an hour when fighting an active fire, while working alongside professionals who get paid an average of $74,000 per year.

Black People Must Never Forget

AFRICANGLOBE - In academic and political lectures, when I refer to the negative psychological and economic impact slavery has had on Black people, my questioners usually retort: "You have to bring up slavery again?" The same people who object to my bringing up slavery's impact upon Black people have no objections when Jews urge their people: "Never forget!" This raises the question: Why should Black people forget about slavery when Haiti, well into the 20th century, paid reparations to France for having fought for and won their freedom?

Mike Pence Honors Black History Month By Reminding Blacks That Whites...

AFRICANGLOBE - Vice President Mike Pence is having just as hard of a time honoring Black History Month as President Donald Trump, given one of his latest tweets. On Wednesday, Pence commemorated the beginning of a month dedicated to celebrating African Americans who made contributions to enriching American culture, society, and government by shouting out a white man — Abraham Lincoln — for signing the Emanicpation Proclamation.

AFRICANGLOBE - Prosecutors at a Mauritanian appeal court have requested 13 anti-slavery activists have their sentences increased to 20 years each for protesting against a forced slum clearance, a judicial source said. France Dismisses Compensation For Slavery

AFRICANGLOBE - French Prime Minister Manuel Valls issued an appeal on Sunday for Africans to get over the legacy of slavery, dismissing claims for financial compensation while acknowledging the “horror” of the slave trade. Valls rejected the idea of compensation, instead advocating for strengthened trade relations between Africa and Europe.

Slave Trading Mauritania Jails 13 Anti-Slavery Activists

AFRICANGLOBE - Thirteen anti-slavery activists in Mauritania have been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison for their alleged role in a riot in June. A tribunal found the members of the Resurgence of the Abolitionist Movement (IRA) guilty on Thursday of counts including attacks against the government, armed assembly and membership of an unrecognised organisation.

Falsifying History On Behalf Of Agendas. “US Civil War Was About...

AFRICANGLOBE - As Abraham Lincoln’s Secretary of State put it: “we emancipated slaves where we cannot reach them and hold them in bondage where we can set them free.” Was President Lincoln really for outlawing slavery? Let’s look at his words. Debating Sen. Stephen Douglas, Lincoln said, “I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes nor of qualifying them to hold office nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and Black races, which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality.”

Where The Bible Really Stands On Slavery

AFRICANGLOBE - Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, in singleness of heart, as you obey Christ; not only while being watched, and in order to please them, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. Render service with enthusiasm, as to the Lord and not to men and women, knowing that whatever good we do, we will receive the same again from the Lord, whether we are slaves or free.

Slavery Is Having A Hollywood Moment. What About The Rest Of...

AFRICANGLOBE - In the absence of popular films about other aspects of Black history, a steady diet of movies about slavery could reduce the larger subject—the long-term oppression and resistance of Black Americans—to its most horrendous era. Such an unbalanced focus threatens to present slavery as the central drama of African-American history.

Mauritania: An Arab Love Affair With Slavery

AFRICANGLOBE - In this 21st century of ours, there is still a country where African men, women and children are "constitutionally" inferior and can be led to the slaughter, like sheep without the slightest remorse or legal recourse. Shockingly, that country is in Africa.

Homework Mixing Slavery and Math for NYC 4th-Graders Stirs Anger

AFRICANGLOBE - New York City educators have learned the hard way that there are some things that just don’t mix -- like using slavery to teach math. The principal of P.S. 59, a well-thought-of elementary school that draws students from Midtown and the area around the United Nations, said that she was “appalled” by the assignment and has ordered sensitivity training for all of the staff.

Mississippi Finally ‘Officially’ Bans Slavery — But is it Alive and...

AFRICANGLOBE - In a major step forward, Mississippi banned slavery this week. Christmas, Chocolate and Child Slavery

AFRICANGLOBE - For many, Christmas is upon us once again. And like every other year chocolate will be sold in vast quantities. But unbeknownst to most consumers, some of the chocolate they buy will have partly been the product of slavery and child labour in West Africa.
