"In the last few weeks, the office has received a few cases of Nigerians with valid multiple-entry US visas being denied entry and sent back to Nigeria. “In such cases reported to the office, such affected persons were sent back immediately on the next available flight and their visas were cancelled,” she said.

Senate Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell sternly rebuked Democrat Elizabeth Warren for reading a letter written by the widow of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. that criticized Sessions's civil rights record. In 1986, Coretta Scott King wrote a letter to the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee urging senators to reject Sessions's nomination as a federal judge. "Mr Sessions has used the awesome power of his office to chill the free exercise of the vote by Black citizens," King wrote.
